Study Abroad in Belize
The Health Science Studies Signature 10-day Study Abroad Experience in Belize occurs every winter-mester. HSS students may use this study abroad as credit for their academic clinical internship (HP4V79) or as an upper level HHPR restricted elective.
This study abroad is an experiential learning opportunity. Students work with in-country healthcare practitioners setting up field clinics in vulnerable communities. Students conduct house visits/patient interviews, perform medical screens, measure vitals, and collaborate with an interprofessional healthcare team. Students are expected to conduct interviews in English, Creole, and/or Spanish (scripts provided) with the help of in-country translators.
