Senior Lecturer Lifetime Fitness Program Director
Dr. MaryAnn Jennings serves as the Lifetime Fitness Program Director at Baylor University. Dr. Jennings joined the Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation full-time in August 2011 after spending seven years as an adjunct instructor at Baylor University, McLennan Community College, and operating her own business. In 2001, Dr. Jennings came to Baylor University as an assistant softball coach. In August 1989, she had the opportunity to start the softball program at the University of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama. Her head coaching career continued at UM until August 2001 when her teams had a 523-194-1 record. She was hired as a full-time Lecturer and Assistant Coordinator of the Lifetime Fitness Program in August 2011. In 2017 she was promoted to Senior Lecturer. She has taught 15 different LF and HP courses during her teaching tenure at Baylor.
In 2002, Dr. Jennings earned her EdD in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama. She graduated from the University of West Florida with bachelor and master’s degrees in Physical Education while playing on the Argonaut Softball Team.
Dr. Jennings is also a Licensed Massage Therapist and conducts weekly softball pitching clinics with young girls. Her leadership background includes holding several offices in the National Softball Coaches Association, chairing the NAIA Region 13 Softball Coaching Committee, and chairing the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Softball Committee. She was also one of the first two female members of the Senior Bowl Committee in Mobile, Alabama. She earned several national and district coaching awards while at UM.
Early in Dr. Jennings’s coaching career, she began short term international mission trips with Athletes in Action and Competitive Edge International. After retiring from coaching, she continued traveling with different churches and has had the opportunity to share the gospel in 18 different countries. She also organized a 30-hour coaching class for the International Softball Federation for coaches in Jordan.
