M.S. in Medical Science Student and Alumni Testimonies

“With regard to the program, I could not be happier with the outcome. The MSMS program at Baylor University not only provided me with the opportunity to strengthen my academic credentials but also introduced me to a valuable network of faculty and students that I have since kept in touch throughout the dental school application process. The course material was both relevant to those of us pursuing a career in health professions and provided a strong foundational understanding of key concepts I anticipate seeing again in dental school, such as Microbiology and Immunology, Pharmacology, and Biostatistics to name a few. I also appreciated the professors' dedication to engaging with students in and out of class, which allowed me to build meaningful relationships with them on a more personal level. Through these connections, I believe my health advisory committee was able to put forward a strong committee packet that helped set me apart as an applicant. Additional resources, such as our grad school preparation seminar and meetings with TMDSAS advisors, helped me to better understand and meet my target goals for each step of the application process. For anyone looking to gain a competitive edge in their professional health applications, I cannot recommend this program highly enough!”

—Andrew S. (MSMS Aug. ‘24), accepted into the Texas Tech University Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine

“The MSMS program was instrumental in allowing me to become a better medical school applicant. I attribute my acceptances to medical school to this program and the experience that it provided. It was a positive experience with instructors that are passionate about teaching, former and current physicians providing insight into their experiences, and the constant and overwhelming support from the MSMS staff. Despite being an online program, the fellow students were supportive and created a community akin to an in person learning experience. If I could do it all over again I would. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to join the MSMS program and I am proud of how far it has come. Thank you, MSMS staff, for the experience and the constant support. It means more to me than you could possibly know.”

—Garrett S. (MSMS Dec. ’24), accepted into Kansas City University Osteopathic Medical School and the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine

“The MSMS program kept reminding me that my goals were not far away. Many of the classes and resources provided by the program directly helped me challenge my beliefs, improve my interview skills, and increase my knowledge, aiding me in getting into medical school.”

—Sai D (MSMS May ’25), Baptist University College of Osteopathic Medicine

From Transaction to Transformation
A concrete cross atop a building, with Baylor University campus in the background.

At the end of the day, while the Christian perspective of Baylor University’s program may be a draw for some students, the pursuit of a Master of Science in Medical Science (MSMS) degree is typically undertaken for a singular purpose—to elevate credentials and prepare for application to medical or other health professional schools. In this sense, a one-year 100% online medical science graduate degree becomes a very transactional encounter. However, in the Baylor MSMS program, the team’s goal is to make that transaction more of a transformation.
