*Please note: Applicants graduating in May will need to apply for the Fall or Spring semesters.
**Upon admission, students are required to submit a seat deposit, which will be credited towards their tuition payment, prior to registration. For priority applicants, the seat deposit is reduced to half of what is required from other applicants.
Admissions Requirements
- Personal Statement: one page statement that highlights the applicant’s strength as an applicant, motivation for this program, and relevant extracurricular activities.
- Transcript(s) displaying grades for all prerequisites are required. They may be unofficial but must be clear and readable.
- All undergraduate GPAs of 3.0 and above will be considered, with a preference given to those with an earned undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher for final admission decisions.
- Standardized test scores (optional): GRE or MCAT or DAT. On rarer occasions, students with a GPA slightly under 3.0 but an MCAT at or above 506, a DAT at or above 19, or a GRE verbal 150+ / quantitative 153+ / writing 3.5+, may be considered for admittance.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation (one from a science faculty member).
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency: In order to be eligible for admission, applicants must either hold US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency.
- Students may have a bachelor’s degree in any field, but prerequisites must be completed prior to enrollment at Baylor University. The program will not fulfill undergraduate medical-based professional school prerequisites.
- Prior to admission, applicants must have completed the following prerequisite courses, all with grades of a C or better. All prerequisite coursework must be completed at a regionally accredited institution within 10 years of application to the program. For a list of regional accrediting organizations and accredited institutions, please visit the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) website.
Biological Sciences | 14 semester hours (12 semester hours of lecture & 2 semester hours of formal lab) or 21 quarter hours (18 quarter lecture hours & 3 quarter lab hours) of Biological Science. |
General Chemistry | 8 semester hours or 12 quarter hours of General Chemistry, including the corresponding laboratory experience. (8 semester hours = 6 hours of lecture & 2 hours of lab; 12 quarter hours = 9 hours of lecture & 3 hours of lab). |
Organic Chemistry | 8 semester hours or 12 quarter hours of Organic Chemistry, including the corresponding laboratory experience. (8 semester hours = 6 hours of lecture & 2 hours of lab; 12 quarter hours = 9 hours of lecture & 3 hours of lab). |
Biochemistry | 3 semester hours or 5 quarter hours of Biochemistry. |
Physics | 8 semester hours or 12 quarter hours of Physics, including the corresponding laboratory experience. (8 semester hours = 6 hours of lecture & 2 hours of lab; 12 quarter hours = 9 hours of lecture & 3 hours of lab) |
Statistics | 3 semester hours or 5 quarter hours of Statistics. |
Please note the above courses are a minimum for admittance into our program. Preference will be given to students who have completed Human Anatomy and/or Human Physiology.
